The signing of the Joint-Venture Agreement, Land Lease Agreement and Power Purchase Agreement for the investment, construction and operation of the 30 Mega Watt SPVPP Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant in Kampong Belimbing Subok marks a significant achievement in the Renewable Energy sector in Brunei Darussalam. It is the largest government-led solar project through Public-Private Partnership, PPP, which highlights the country's progress in diversifying its energy mix with low carbon sources and is testament of Brunei Darussalam's commitment towards decarbonisation. The signing took place at the Prime Minister's Office, 14th June afternoon.
The signing was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy. The project is expected to boost the country's renewable energy capacity, contributing towards the national target of increasing the share of renewable energy to at least 30 percent of total installed capacity mix by 2035.
